Week beginning: Saturday 4th January 2014

We had a great turnout for our New Year Run to Beauly and back. It was a great start to the year! Have a look in the Ross-shire Journal to see the photos!

Why join jogscotland?

jogscotland groups are based on the principles of making fitness fun and accessible.  The expectation of a beginner is someone who can walk/jog for 30 seconds. jogscotland’s gentle approach ensures that almost anyone can participate and they are more likely to come back for more, rather than revert to a life on the sofa! As part of jogscotland, people benefit from the ongoing and varied support of friendly Jog Leaders and their fellow joggers.

We always welcome new members so if you would like to start jogging, or get back to it, then please come along and join us. We have a wide variety of abilities and speeds, so even if you have never jogged before, we can help you do it with a simple jog/ walk programme to get you started.

The Inverness Race for Life is  to be held on  25/05/2014 so there's plenty of time to come along and start preparing to run the route. Our group meets several times a week in the village and is completely free. We can give you encouragement and motivation to get fit and feel great.

The JogScotland Website has more information about our aims and how to join :  http://www.jogscotland.org.uk/

Saturday 4th Jan: Parkrun - 5K at Bught Park Inverness at 9.30 am. Register on-line (see Inverness parkrun under Results page for information).

This will be a "paced" Parkrun with people running at certain speeds to help you reach a PB- see info. from the Inverness Parkrun Facebook page:-  "An early reminder that as next week's event is the first of the month we will have our regular paced run. If you are interested in trying to reach a time goal (though given the recent conditions that time goal might be a little slower than your PB!). Billy Skinner will pace 21 mins, Mike Gage 25 mins and Dougie Lamont 30 mins, look for them to be wearing hi-viz vests with the relevant number on the back. Anyone who thinks they can run at an even and predictable rate is welcome to volunteer to help, just email invernessOffice@parkrun.com. You'll get credit for volunteering and a nice run to keep you warm too!"
