Congratulations to Jenna for her first Baxters 5k – great time – we’ll have to watch out when she does her first 10k next year!

This year’s event saw the smallest field for a number of years. Perhaps it was the weather although the race conditions were actually pretty good. A tricky little 10k which is uphill for most of the first half quickly followed by a long, fast downhill. Lots to see and do at the games. MG

Weather was much better in Tain for the race than Inverness or Muir or Ord, which was probably why the numbers were down on last year’s fine weather race. Richard was 6th overall, won a prize and also won a spot prize of a bottle of Glenmorangie. Well done to Sara on a new PB and also for winning 2nd top spot prize of a Fairtrade food hamper. Ewan Huc should have run as I needed a pacemaker but he wimped out with a cold - appreciate cheering us on though. It would be really great to see a few more of us at this friendly little event, suitable for all standards. MG

Scottish Traditional Boat Festival Portsoy 10k Sun 24th June 2012
Well it had to happen after 2 earlier years in glorious sunshine! Sunday dawned a cold wet day bringing previous numbers down to just over 100 runners although this didn’t dampen the spirits of our 2 newcomers to this race – Richard who came an impressive 8th overall and Carol who scorched up a fantastic new PB (Heather & I are very envious!).
And Heather's new Thursday jogging group must be paying off because the hill didn’t seem anywhere near as steep as usual, even with a bad back. Mike’s sympathy amounted to “you’ll be fine – just take some more painkillers”!
After the race, there’s lots of entertainment and plenty to see, do & eat at the Boat Festival down by the Harbour to keep you and the rest of the family occupied till at least 5pm.
A scenic route, well organised with lots of space for parking on the huge recreation field at the start, chip timing, a medal, decent goody-bag and free entry to the Festival for all runners. VG

Dochfour Dash 5.45m Wed 20th June 2012
Myself, Ewan & Sara Huc took part in the 2nd Dochfour Dash last night along the banks of the Caledonian Canal. A great little off-road event suitable for all abilities and organised really well by Inverness Harriers. I think every member of the Harriers must have brought food along for the superb post-race refreshments as there was probably enough for another 50. Well done guys. MG

Grantown 10k Sat 9th June 2012
Race report by Val Gage
This friendly little event was part of the Grantown Primary School Gala Day.
The girls toilets in the school were brightly decorated with plenty of room and no queuing, so an excellent start to this event!
The race itself started in the adjacent school playing field where lots of stalls were set up (including food & ice cream) to keep the kids amused.
We watched the toddlers race first round the small roped off track and then the 10k started followed by the 3k.
The route was definitely one for all you “off-roaders” as 90% was undulating forest tracks which were well marked & marshalled. A tough race but what a sense of achievement at the end.
So come on Muir of Ord, get out there and enjoy it next year.
